The Forest of which we dream
Theater Nestroyhof [ENA] "Der Wald von dem wir träumen" is a theater play by the Austrian artist and puppet sculpturer Christoph Bochdansky. The title translates to "The Forest of which we Dream" in English. It is also a surreal poetic play for adults. On the 24th of March at the Theater Nestroyhof, the performance was shown for the first time, several spectators participated and the feedback from public was really enthusiastic.
The tree has several branches that extend outwards, and each branch holds a video projector. The projectors cast images of trees and nature onto the surrounding walls, creating an immersive forest environment. The sound element of the installation is also essential. The sound of birds chirping, leaves rustling, and water flowing is played through speakers, creating an ambient forest soundscape. The sound and video elements combine to transport the viewer into a dreamlike forest environment.
One of the key themes of this surrealistic theater play is the relationship between humans and nature. Bochdansky uses the forest as a metaphor for the natural world and encourages viewers to reflect on their relationship with it. The installation invites viewers to experience the beauty and tranquility of nature and consider how they can protect it. Overall, "Der Wald von dem wir träumen" is a captivating and thought-provoking surrealistic theater play that encourages viewers to connect with nature and consider their impact on the environment when even the texts of Beatles songs in German are included while the routes of the trees are moving while answering to the questions of journalists.
