A Joyful Jungle Adventure for All Ages
Teatro Moedling [ENA] If you think you already know The Jungle Book, think again. Teatro’s new musical adaptation, Mogli – Das Dschungelbuch, breathes fresh life into Rudyard Kipling’s classic, turning it into a colorful, heartfelt, and surprisingly meaningful experience for both kids and adults. From the first beat, the production pulls the audience into a vibrant jungle world—lush in sound, movement, and imagination.
Director Norbert Holoubek has created a piece that feels playful without being silly, and emotional without slipping into cliché. This isn’t just a kid’s show; it’s a well-crafted piece of theatre that treats its young audience with respect while giving older viewers plenty to reflect on. At the center is Joel Gradinger as Mogli, and he is a delight to watch. His Mogli is spirited and curious, but also vulnerable—clearly a child caught between two worlds. Whether he’s dancing with Baloo or standing up to the fearsome Shere Khan, his performance rings true. Anna Fleischhacker plays Bagheera with grace and quiet strength, while Manfred Schwaiger brings warmth and comic timing to Baloo, without ever overdoing it.
What sets Mogli apart is that beneath all the fun, there’s a heartfelt message about belonging, respect, and finding your place in the world — a theme that resonates just as deeply with adults as with children. In short: Mogli – Das Dschungelbuch is more than just a children’s musical. It’s a charming, thoughtful, and joy-filled adventure that speaks to the wild child in all of us and leaves audiences of every age smiling long after the curtain falls.
