Odeon Theater [ENA] ‘We are all lonely and nobody will die for us” – said the French philosopher Jean Paul Sartre a while ago. “Blue Moon you saw…” is a masterpiece about loneliness, about being even more lonely in society and company of people than alone. The piece shows several protagonists, young men and women. They are all struggling with feelings and emotions but there is nobody who would hear them.

Nobody would come to talk about their emotions, nobody would calm them down and comfort from their fears. Everybody is too much occupied with him or herself to remark the personalities of others. There are even couples who are trying to do things together and repeat the movements and actions of each other, but they are not really interesting in each other. In a best case they are just mirroring each other but are not providing any emotional feedback. It is also rather a monologue together than a dialogue.

The piece is a parabola for post-modernist society which is still marked by the major value such as individualism and freedom of personality which also has a back side such as loneliness. “Blues moon you saw…” was performed by Liquid Loft company which was grounded in 2005 by the choreographer Chris Haring together with the musician Andreas Berger, dancer Stephanie Cumming and drama-writer Thomas Jelinek. Liquid Loft also received the Gold Lion premium at the international festival Biennale of Venice. The performance was a part of the Vienna International Dance Festival ImpulsTanz which takes place every autumn in Vienna and brings together the best contemporary dancers with the most innovative modern dance performances.
